Marni’s InspireHealth Story
February 19, 2025
I am a mom of three adult children, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, and a social worker. My life has always been active – hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, playing tennis and pickleball, traveling, and more.
In November 2023, everything changed when I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare form of stage 3 breast cancer. 2024 became a year of medical leave, filled with daily tests, procedures, surgery, and treatment. Emotionally, mentally, socially, and physically, my world was turned upside down. I was beyond scared, felt isolated, and suddenly cut off from the life and social connections I had always known.
A childhood friend, who is a physician, told me about InspireHealth. As soon as I visited the website, I signed up right away.
Every Monday, I sat at my computer, registering for everything I could on the InspireHealth’s class calendar. My days quickly filled with virtual educational and supportive sessions where I’d have opportunities to see others, interact, and ask questions.
I also met one-on-one with InspireHealth’s incredible team – a registered dietitian, a clinical counsellor, a clinical exercise therapist, and a supportive care physician. And, I took part in multi-session programs that provided ongoing guidance and connection, including the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program and the 4-week Life Beyond Cancer program.
Over the past 16 months, InspireHealth has given me support, hope, knowledge, connection, strength, acceptance, and much-needed structure and purpose in ways I never could have imagined. Their impact on my cancer journey is profound, and I will always be grateful.
I plan to remain connected as both a patient, volunteer and a donor, committed to helping others access the same support that has meant so much to me. Thank you, InspireHealth!
