Servings: 2 cups
- 4 organic apples, washed, cored and chopped (leave skin on)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Variations
- Add a touch of vanilla, ginger, cardamom or nutmeg
Place all ingredients into a pot and slowly bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cover with a lid.
Simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the apples are soft and easy to mash.
Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
For chunkier applesauce, mash with a potato masher. For a smoother texture use a blender or an immersion blender.
Store in a jar in the fridge or freezer.
