Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Canada Society (TLKYCS) is a Vancouver-based charitable organization founded in 1994 by the late Mr. Robert H. N. Ho, C.M., O.B.C. Inspired by the legacy of his grandmother, Lady Clara Lin-kok (wife of Sir Robert Hotung), the Society carries forward a longstanding tradition of philanthropy and community service. Lady Clara was widely respected for her dedication to improving access to healthcare, education, and social support—values that continue to guide the work of TLKYCS today.
For more than three decades, TLKYCS and the Robert H. N. Ho family have supported initiatives that strengthen communities and improve quality of life. This commitment to supporting underserved communities is what brought Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Canada Society and InspireHealth together to create the Harmony in Care initiative.
Chinese Canadians represent one of the largest ethnocultural communities in Metro Vancouver, with approximately 475,000 residents reporting Chinese ethnic origin. Nearly one-third are aged 50 and older—the age group most at risk for cancer. Studies show that Chinese and other immigrant groups face higher risks for liver, stomach, and nasopharyngeal cancers, as well as more hurdles to psychological and social support.
Harmony in Care was created to help address these gaps by offering support that reflects the language, cultural backgrounds, and experiences of the people we serve. Through mindfulness-based care, the program creates space for connection between mind, body, and spirit while also offering support in Mandarin and Cantonese. Together, InspireHealth and TLKYCS are helping more individuals and families across British Columbia feel connected, supported, and understood.
InspireHealth is grateful for TLKYCS’s partnership in helping more individuals and families across British Columbia connect with support that feels meaningful, culturally relevant, and welcoming.
