BRCA in BC Education Support Session: Surgery, Gender Identity, and Body Image Issues

January 18 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

In this session, guest speaker Sarah White will be speaking about Surgery, Gender Identity, and Body Image Issues. Sarah is the co-founder and COO of the B Corp, based in Vancouver, BC. After learning that she carriers a BRCA mutation predisposing her to breast cancer, Sarah faced a significant decision: whether to wait and see what happens, or to have a preventative double mastectomy. As a Jewish woman, mother, and lesbian, Sarah’s journey encompasses the complexities of health decisions, identity, and societal perceptions. Her story is a testament to finding congruence and identity amidst change and uncertainty, offering valuable insights for anyone navigating similar challenges.
