Kamloops, Virtual

Laura Kalina is a Registered Dietitian with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from McGill University and a Master of Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University. Her passion for health promotion and chronic disease prevention stems from a long-standing career of more than three decades as a Public Health Dietitian with Interior Health. During this time, she also hosted a regular television show and weekly newspaper food column focused on nutrition and practical healthy eating, featuring her sought-after recipes.

As a nutrition entrepreneur, Laura founded the innovative “Shop Smart” Nutrition Tour program, led by dietitians in supermarkets across Western Canada. A leader in food security and food sovereignty, she has worked extensively with Indigenous communities and helped develop the Food Sovereignty Micro-credential at Thompson Rivers University, where she also teaches alongside an Indigenous farmer and medicine maker.

Her work has earned numerous awards for innovation, community development, and leadership, including the prestigious Pioneer Spirit Award from the City of Kamloops.  Laura is proud to be part of InspireHealth’s cancer support team, bringing compassionate, practical nutrition guidance and cooking classes to individuals and families living with cancer.
